Debbie Rosas &
Carlos Rosas: the Creators of Nia
|
|
|
Debbie Rosas
and Carlos Rosas, (pictured left) created Nia
in 1983 as a personal and professional quest
that grew out of their desire to discover a
more pleasurable and expressive way to get fit.
"At
the height of the Jane Fonda era, when aerobics
meant high-impact and bouncing, we had an idea
and vision.
We
knew fitness could feel better and be experienced
in a more holistic and effective way.
|
We
said, Love is the way to create a healthy body; Choose
pleasure over pain; Take off your shoes, feel your body,
express yourself and make conscious choices that support
healing, transformation, health, well being, and personal
growth."
|
Before
the term 'cross training' was ever invented, Nia
was teaching people how to use movement and energy
variety to get fit and avoid injury. Thousands of
people from all over the world give praise and validation
to the benefits of Nia as a fitness and personal
growth program.

In Swahili,
"Nia" means 'with purpose,' which
is exactly the way we teach you to move.
We say it's like chocolate, you
have to taste it...
